Columnist Promotes Starting Over in New Inspirational Book
Nationally recognized motivational speaker, radio commentator, and syndicated newspaper columnist Jim Davidson is on a mission to help people start over. The award-winning author of numerous books wrote a self-syndicated newspaper column that ran in more than 375 newspapers in 35 states.
His columns often probed important issues of the day. Your Future Begins Today is directed at adults who need a fresh start in life, such as those released from prison, recovering addicts, and men and women who have gone through divorce and need to start over. Davidson came to realize that many of society’s problems link directly to illiteracy, as 85 percent of children in the juvenile court system are functionally illiterate.
He found the biggest factor in a child’s early educational success is being read to before ever beginning school. Yet 61 percent of low-income families have no books at home. In 2005, the author founded his literacy program A Bookcase for Every Child, which provides a quality bookcase and starter set of books for children in low-income families.
Davidson is partnering with the vocabulary building program Mr. Jim’s Word Game to develop a curriculum teaching pre-school children the habits leading toward success: those of character, integrity, respect, and manners. He believes these habits will change the culture of America.
