Here are some great thoughts that my wife Janis has written that are also in our new book titled “Keep Your Fork.” They will definitely give you something to think about.
She begins, “I am saving my fork just a little longer. Will God allow those of my generation that the Bible speaks about a little more time to get the harvest in? In Matthew 24:34, the Bible says, “This generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled.” Most all of Matthew 24 is warning and signs of Christ’s returning and judgment.
What things are we seeing fulfilled? Wars and rumors of wars. Our country is involved in two wars that are at center stage right now. Israel and the Palestinians have a lot of our country divided. Many of our college-age kids haven’t been taught the history of the Holocaust and are protesting against Israel. America doesn’t want to turn its back on Israel, our only true friend in the Middle East. After all, whether we like it or not, they are God’s chosen people.
Many Bible prophecies are being fulfilled right before our eyes. Matthew 24:6 says, “For nation shall rise against nation, kingdoms against kingdoms; and there shall be famines and pestilence and earthquakes in diverse places.” The United States is having to deal with Iran, Syria, and many Eastern nations right now because of our allegiance to Israel. Russia has invaded Ukraine, and our country is sending billions of dollars for supplies trying to help that country to survive also. Just today, as I turn on the world news, I see flooding in California and many other states, where thousands have been evacuated. Yesterday, fires were raging in Chile and many other countries. Hawaii lost billions of dollars of tourism this past year due to fires. There are earthquakes every day it seems. Yesterday one got close to home here in Arkansas, as Oklahoma felt a 5.1 magnitude earthquake near Prague, Oklahoma.
Volcanoes are erupting in Iceland and other parts of the world as I write this. Just read chapter 24 of Matthew and think about some of the things we are witnessing every day. When you read Matthew 24:32, it speaks about the parable of the fig tree, that is pointing to Israel, which became a nation on May 14, 1948. I was only 8 years old and part of the generation that was seeing some of these things beginning to come to pass. Matthew 24:33 says, “when you shall see these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” But wait, will God give us another chance? Can we borrow a little more time? Let’s look at II Chronicles 7:14, “If my people which are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
I was privileged to sing with a lady’s trio in my home church, Bethlehem Baptist Church, a few years ago. One song we would sing spoke of Christ returning, “Redemption Draweth Nigh.” Signs of the times are everywhere. I’m keeping my fork, how about you? There is no doubt about it, it’s an exciting time to be alive.”
Thank you, Sweetheart, I was blessed, and I trust everyone else was, too.
